In the film helmed by lensman Phillip Noyce Angelina Jolie plays Evelyn Salt, a CIA officer accused of being a Russian sleeper spy. Initially, the lead role in Salt was given to Tom Cruise, but was later rewritten for Jolie when Cruise dropped out.
